Course
Life-saving action and first aid for Maternity Care de Waarden
During training as a maternity nurse, you'll learn all about pregnancy, childbirth and the maternity period. But imagine if the partner is known to have epilepsy, or a little brother puts a marble in his nose? In those cases, it's good to know and be able to perform the right actions.
But we also cover topics such as fluxus, shock and bleeding that can happen right after childbirth. So your knowledge will be completely up to date!
This course in Life-Saving and First Aid for Maternity Care was designed in collaboration with doctors from the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital and Princess Maxima Center. In this course, you will learn to recognize a (seriously) ill child and know what to do when a child may be in acute life danger.
The topics were chosen based on what we doctors in the Netherlands have seen pass (serious) childhood diseases and/or disorders.
The focus of this course is on learning to act when a child is acutely life-threateningly ill. We simulate situations where acting in the first few minutes is vital. In addition, we learn the difference between something that seems serious and something that is serious. For example, febrile convulsions, extremely annoying to see but rarely life-threatening. What you will not learn during this course is how to apply band-aids, pierce blisters or put on a sling.
Certificate
Upon successful completion of the training, each student will receive:
- First Aid to Children certificate from Het Oranje Kruis.
This certificate is valid for 2 years. - 8 KCKZ accreditation points in Category A

We use state-of-the-art CPR manikins that show directly through an app what you can do to improve CPR. This way everyone gets personalized feedback.
